What is NAUW?
NAUW is a service-oriented, non-profit, non-partisan, non-religious, non-governmental organization. It was founded in Ibadan in 1959. In 1962, she was affiliated to the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) with Headquarters at Geneva, Switzerland. The International Federation of University Women itself was founded in 1919 other the First World Way by women graduates from Canada, Great Britain and the United State of America, to promote International friendship, cooperation and peace.
NAUW is affiliated to the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) here in Nigeria as well as the African Association of University Women (AAUW).
NAUW IS COMMITTED TO
Promoting the rights of women and the girl-child to education in order to reach their full potentials.
Creating a platform for the objective study of contemporary problems in the society.
Promoting the continuing education and intellectual growth of its members.
Stimulating public opinion on women’s affairs and keeping watch over any legislation, or regulations affecting the rights and welfare of women and children.
Cooperating with women in organization which seek the welfare and empowerment of other women.

Eligible members of NAUW include women holding degrees from any recognized University, including degrees granted ‘honoris-causa’
